Even though women have, on average, 16% more education than men, the fact remains that 43% of them give up on starting a business for fear of failure and/or because they don't feel fully qualified for the challenge. Most of them also tend to face a lonely journey: a survey by the e-commerce platform Nuvemshop found that 65% of women entrepreneurs working online do so entirely on their own.
Even so, other figures point to a more positive picture: women's participation in entrepreneurship among 18- to 30-year-olds rose from 6% to 25% during the pandemic years. Among the main reasons for starting their own business are the dream of being an entrepreneur and greater flexibility over working hours.
To mark Women's Entrepreneurship Day, NEUROON has put together the 4 pillars which, when well developed, can help women become even more engaged and better prepared in their entrepreneurial purpose. Take a look:
1. Raising capital
The first crucial pillar, which can determine whether or not a business succeeds, is securing the financial resources to sustain it, especially in the first few months, when things tend to be more delicate.
Although at this stage many people immediately think of bringing in a business partner, the truth is that loans, crowdfunding campaigns and venture capital funds are also among the options for raising capital.
2. Don't neglect your personal life
Behind every woman entrepreneur there is a daughter, mother, wife, friend and so on. In other words, a person with her own ambitions, hobbies and personal needs. So even if she is happy and satisfied with what her business is achieving, it is essential that she doesn't neglect her other selves, so that the business can keep running smoothly.
After all, life is about balance between all the versions of ourselves , and the world of women's entrepreneurship is no different.
3. Accept constructive criticism
Criticism and negative comments can be a valuable tool when investing in improvements. Even so, you obviously need to be careful not to become a sponge, and you certainly shouldn't listen to everything people say: after all, the world is full of ill-intentioned people.
Learn to filter out what is worth listening to for the improvement of your business, and it will surely take off.
4. Learn to delegate
As the company takes shape, it is normal to start running short of time to deal with every demand. That is when you begin delegating tasks, gaining time to deliver quality work by focusing on certain roles yourself and outsourcing others to people who are better qualified for them than you are.

These are the 4 pillars we consider essential for women entrepreneurs to boost their results along this journey.
